Opportunity Types Reference
Each opportunity type in StaffIQ uses a unique combination of data-driven algorithms, pattern matching, and sentiment analysis to detect coaching moments. Below is a summary of every type, what it means, and how it resolves.
Placement Back-Out Risk
A candidate has an upcoming placement, but recent notes show increasing dissatisfaction leading up to the start date. This poses a significant risk to the candidate starting as planned.
Auto-resolves when:
The candidate's dissatisfaction is resolved and no longer poses a significant risk.
The candidate, placement, or job is updated to a non-active status (confirming the back-out).
The placement start date passes.
Note: Marking this opportunity Complete or Invalid prevents any additional Placement Back-Out Risk opportunities from opening for that same placement.
Follow-Up Failure
A candidate asked a direct or indirect question via message content or SMS, and no outbound response was sent within 48 hours. This is purely time-based and does not account for holidays or weekends.
Auto-resolves when:
An outbound activity occurs from someone other than the candidate (e.g., a recruiter sends a message or logs a call).
Note: This type does not auto-resolve due to age — it stays open until a response is provided.
Placement Frustration Risk
A candidate on an active placement has expressed frustration, dissatisfaction, or concerns about their current assignment. This poses a risk to continued engagement.
Auto-resolves when:
The risk level decreases based on subsequent candidate communications.
The placement status changes to non-active.
The placement end date passes.
Phone Screen Follow-Up
A candidate was phone screened by a recruiter but has not been submitted to any positions within 14 business days. This indicates a potential missed placement opportunity or stalled candidate.
Auto-resolves when:
The candidate is submitted to a position.
14 days pass since the phone screen without submission.
Loss to Competitor
A candidate has mentioned or indicated they're considering a position with another staffing company or competitor. The communication has been analyzed to identify the competitive threat.
Auto-resolves when:
The risk level decreases based on subsequent communications.
14 days pass since the opportunity was created.
Lead Abandonment
A recruiter reached out to a newly added candidate with a single outbound message but hasn't followed up within 72 hours, despite no response. This may indicate new leads falling through the cracks.
Auto-resolves when:
Any follow-up activity is detected (outbound message, call, or note).
14 days pass without any activity on the candidate record.
Handoff Failure
A candidate handoff between team members was initiated, but the receiving party hasn't completed it within the expected timeframe. This helps ensure candidates don't get lost during internal transitions.
This opportunity type requires configuration specific to your organization's workflows. Each handoff flow is defined with:
Starting Action(s) — The Bullhorn note action type(s) indicating a handoff began (e.g., "Transferred to AM").
Ending Action(s) — The note action type(s) indicating the handoff was completed (e.g., "Handoff Complete").
Completion Window — The number of days the receiving party has before an opportunity is created.
Maximum Notes After Start — (Optional) Limits detection to handoffs where fewer than this many notes were logged after the start event. Helps filter out cases with clear follow-up activity. If not configured, all incomplete handoffs are flagged.
The opportunity links to the team member who initiated the handoff. StaffIQ also attempts to identify the intended recipient by analyzing note content for patterns like "transferred to [Name]" or "assigned to [Name]." To ensure correct tagging, include the recipient's name exactly as it appears on their Bullhorn user profile.
Auto-resolves when:
A note with a matching completion action is logged to the candidate record.
The handoff has been open for more than 14 days past its expected completion window.
Workers Comp / Legal Risk
A candidate on an active placement has reported a potential workers' comp claim, workplace injury, or safety concern through their communications. Flagged for immediate attention due to legal and compliance implications.
Auto-resolution does not occur for this type. Manual review and resolution is required.
Response Time Improvement
A recruiter's average response time to candidate messages has significantly improved compared to their historical average over recent weeks. This surfaces positive coaching moments to recognize good behavior.
Auto-resolves when: 7 days pass since the opportunity was created (response time trends are recalculated weekly).
Note: This type involves aggregated metrics across multiple candidates, not a single interaction.
Response Time Decline
A recruiter's average response time has significantly slowed compared to their historical average over recent weeks. This indicates a potential coaching opportunity around engagement or workload.
Auto-resolves when: 7 days pass since the opportunity was created (response time trends are recalculated weekly).
Note: This type involves aggregated metrics across multiple candidates, not a single interaction.
